A selection of reviews and analysis of Paul’s work.

“Paul’s devotion to witty writing is unmistakable. Influenced by voices ranging from Jane Austen to John Sullivan (Only Fools and Horses), and shaped by a childhood steeped in humour as survival, his prose balances seriousness with levity. Comedy becomes not an escape from pain, but an antidote, a way of bearing it.”

“It's awfully bloody good. It's a lovely story, chock full of charm, and you have a spirited and colourful writing style that is a joy to sit with.”

“The manuscript is a mix of coming-of-age, mystery, and, well, comedy. It’s easy to like. Does the story deliver on the promise of its premise and opening scenes? Yes.

“The opening scene promised a young man struggling to get by in life as he tries to find his footing in the real world. The entire plot is built on that.”

“Paul has a good writing style, I enjoyed the comedic tone, and the protagonist was engaging – so it was great on that front. Choosing Windsor as a background is such a great idea.

“The 1980s were a particularly heady time for the royal family and having their story played out in the background of his own family could work incredibly well.”

Review of “Windsor ‘85: Unbridled Summer”

“It is an interesting concept: a young man’s summer with milestones - moving out, bedsit in Windsor, job interviews, brush with the law, girlfriend you pang for long after it ends, friendships.

“I found the dialogue and the colloquialism of the year to be spot on. There were a few extracts where your description of the setting and that year drew me in.”

“I enjoyed the book and I’m sure other Windsorians would.  Mick was my favourite character he was a good antagonist/friend and we all know someone a like that.  I thought the depictions of young love and infatuation were particularly well done.”
